Iron Cupcake Challenge IX - Perfect Pair

I found out about Iron Cupcake a week before the competition. I had heard of such shenanigans in the states but was unaware anything so UTTERLEY AMAZING happened here in Blighty. So you can imagine my excitement when I got the chance to compete. Firstly, of course, I had to come up with the flavour I was going to make. The brief was Perfect Pair meaning only two flavours in the cupcake allowed. After a few brainstorming sessions and having several debates with myself as to how adventurous to go.......it hit me, obviously it had to be Chocolate & Peanut. This flavour combo combines my two absolute addictions so together?... Well my friends let just say the word orgasmic seems a little tame, in short absolute Chocolate Peanut junkie heaven.

I set to work thinking of how many ways I could incorporate the two delectable elements into my cupcake. I took my classic peanut butter cupcake which I make with chunky PB so little gem like peanut chunks are littered through the fluffy peanutty flavoured sponge - I added cocoa to this not as much as I would normally use for a kick ass chocolate fiend Sympathy for the Devil cake but enough to balance against the peanut flavour. I added choc chips too, topped with a smooth and creamy PB frosting and topped with caramelized peanuts and dark chocolate shavings!

And here it is "Rebel Rebel" Peanut Butter and Chocolate......I've had two of these already and it's only 11am.....words "slippery slope" and "cupcake rehab" spring to mind.

Garden of Eden

The brief was quite simply....passionfruit. So after a few flavour combo brainstorming sessions I decided upon a passionfruit and lemon sponge cake with light lemon cream filling and frosting. I finished off the cake with a drizzle of passionfruit pulp.........and named it Garden of Eden (Guns N Roses)

A Taste of What's to come

Cupcakes for Heartache

I have started this blog to document project cupcake, which in itself has been started for several reasons. I have made in excess of 300 cupcakes over the last couple of months, to;

a) raise money for a flight to Australia.
b) try out the plethora of vegan cupcake flavours that flit through consciousness and those that come to me in dreams.

Hold on tight.
